The warm spring breeze is waking up Seoul’s Royal Palaces and Royal Tombs from the cold winter. The first flower bud of 2018 began to come out on March 15 from ginger plants at Changdeokgung Palace Gwanramji Pond and Changgyeonggung Palace Gyeongchunjeon. Changdeokgung Palace Nakseonjae Hall, Gyeongbokgung Palace Gyeonghoeru, and Deoksugung Palace Jeonggwanheon Hall soon followed with blooming of their own and will spread to across Seoul’s Royal Palaces and Royal Tombs.

Cultural Heritage Administration released the forecast of spring flower blooming period and seven recommended royal  palaces and royal tombs for spring flower viewing. ▲ For cherry tree blossoms, azaleas, and roses, visit Amisan Mountain flower stairs, the backdrop of Gyeongbokgung Palace Gyotaejeon Hall in early April. ▲ For apricot tree blossoms and peony, visit Changdeokgung Palace Nakseonjae Hall in late March. ▲ For apricot tree blossoms, cherry tree blossoms, and plum tree blossoms, visit Changgyeonggung Palace Okcheongyo Bridge and the stream nearby in late March. ▲ For peony, royal azaleas, and azaleas, visit Deoksugung Palace Jeonggwanheon Hall in mid May. ▲ For cherry blossoms, visit around Princess Deokhye’s Grave at Royal Tomb of Hongneung and Yureung in Namyangju during mid April. ▲ For azaleas, visit Royal Tomb of Taereung and Gangneung in Seoul during early April. ▲ For pine trees and azaleas, visit Royal Tomb of Yungneung and Geolleung in Hwaseong during early April.
